Onam is a significant festival celebrated in the southern Indian state of Kerala. It is a ten-day harvest festival that marks the homecoming of the mythical King Mahabali. Onam is celebrated with great enthusiasm and joy by people of all ages. This report highlights the grand celebration of Onam at ISS B. Ed College.

The celebration of Onam at ISS B. Ed College began weeks in advance. The organizing committee, consisting of students and faculty members, worked tirelessly to plan various activities and events. The college premises were beautifully decorated with colorful floral rangolis, traditional lamps, and balloons.

One of the highlights of the Onam celebration was the grand Onam Sadhya, a traditional feast served on banana leaves. The college canteen prepared a sumptuous meal comprising of various vegetarian dishes like avial, olan, thoran, sambar, rasam, and payasam. The students and staff members enjoyed the delicious feast together, creating a sense of unity and camaraderie.

To showcase the rich cultural heritage of Kerala, the college organized various cultural programs. Students performed traditional dance form Thiruvathira. There were also musical performances, including classical and folk songs. The audience was captivated by the vibrant costumes, graceful movements, and melodious tunes.

A Pookalam  created by students to intricate floral designs. Pookalam, also known as flower rangoli, is an essential part of Onam celebrations. The participants displayed their creativity and artistic skills by using a variety of flowers and petals to create stunning designs. The competition added a competitive spirit and brought out the best in the participants.

To add a touch of excitement and fun, various traditional games and sports were organized. Students participated in activities like tug of war, lemon spoon, sack race, kalam udakkal and bottle filling. These games not only entertained the participants but also promoted teamwork, physical fitness, and a sense of healthy competition.

The celebration of Onam at ISS B. Ed College was a grand success, bringing together students, faculty, and staff members to rejoice in the spirit of unity and cultural diversity. The event provided an opportunity for everyone to experience the vibrant traditions and customs of Kerala. The festivities created a joyful atmosphere, fostering a sense of belonging and pride among the college community. Overall, the celebration of Onam at ISS B.
