INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY AND WORLD MUSIC DAY

Date:June 19,2024

On June 19, our institution celebrated National Reading Day with a series of engaging and educational activities aimed at fostering a love for reading and enhancing literacy among students. The main events for the day included a Prosodic Challenge in both English and Malayalam, as well as a Book Review competition in the same languages.

### **Prosodic Challenge (English & Malayalam)**
The Prosodic Challenge was an exciting and competitive event designed to enhance students’ oral reading skills and their ability to convey emotion and meaning through voice modulation and expression. Students participated in separate English and Malayalam categories, reading excerpts from well-known literary works. The challenge allowed participants to demonstrate their mastery of pitch, rhythm, and intonation, which are essential components of effective reading aloud. This activity not only improved their reading fluency but also instilled a deeper understanding of the texts.

### **Book Review Competition (English & Malayalam)**
As part of the National Reading Day celebration, a Book Review competition was also conducted in both English and Malayalam. Students were encouraged to select a book of their choice, read it thoroughly, and present a thoughtful review. The competition allowed participants to develop critical thinking and analytical skills while enhancing their ability to express ideas clearly and concisely. Students highlighted key themes, characters, and the impact of the books they read, sharing their insights with their peers. The diverse range of books chosen, from fiction to non-fiction, enriched the learning experience for everyone involved.

The celebration of National Reading Day was a resounding success, with the Prosodic Challenge and Book Review competitions serving as key highlights of the event. These activities helped nurture a love for reading, improved students’ literary skills, and promoted the joy of discovering new ideas through books. The enthusiasm and participation of students in both English and Malayalam activities were commendable, making this celebration a meaningful and inspiring event for all.
